Half of my studio is a laboratory. Here I experiment and play. I bring things in from the world, reconfigure them and reimagine them.
Before I begin a new series I take weeks or even months incubating an idea.
I might fill sketchbooks, but more often than not I will collect objects or reference material from which I might make drawings or collages.
I also collate a music play list.
Books, films and poems also enter the melting-pot.
Then one day, quite suddenly (and a surprise to me) I am ready to paint.
