My home: The Isle of Wight
My studio is surrounded by beautiful and varied countryside.
I am very lucky that I am ten minutes from the sea, ten minutes from woodland, ten minutes from open downs and ten minutes from precious mud-flats.
Every day I walk for two hours every day. Rain or shine.
On these walks I get my inspiration.
I am hugely inspired by natural forms and the rhythms of the seasons and tides.
I have been painting long enough to know that my painting follows a yearly cycle.
In Spring my work has a lust for life.
In Summer an easy optimistic joy.
In Autumn my work is more thoughtful and sombre.
In Winter it has a starker quality.
Yesterday the clouds reminded me of Tiepolo's painting. Associations like this permeate my work.
